Thursday, June 11, 2015 Pops up – How Can I Remove Download VLC Player 2014? (Removal Instruction)

Yesterday, I got a browser hijacker to a website marking ‘VLC Player: 100% Free Download’. It suggested a VLC Player 2014 and offered an orange button for free download. Well, I clicked the button unaccountably… when I installed it, it didn’t work. It seemed that this website is a scam. What’s worse, this website started taking over my browser. Anyone encountered the same issue as I did? Any advice for this issue is welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Actually, published by ClickYes, VLC Player 2014 publicity is just designed to generate web traffics or gain pay-per click revenues. This website can modify your browser settings to activate itself. Your homepage may be replaced by random URL, so you may be attacked by this website constantly as you open your browser.

Step 1: End suspicious process in Windows Task Manager.

Right click the blank Windows Taskbar and select Start Task Manager to open. If your IE is infected and stuck in, you should end the main iexplorer.exe. FF and Chrome are respectively corresponding to firefox.exe and chrome.exe.

Step 2: Erase from IE. 

Open Internet Explorer, then click on the gear icon (Tools for Windows XP users) at the top (far right), then select Manage add-ons.

 Navigate to Search Providers, remove from the list and enable the one you want.
