Australian
Federal Police is a ransom attack hoax that freezes
or shuts down users PC and then begins to display a bogus notification,
stating:
“Attention!
Your
PC is blocked due to at least one of the reasons specified below. You have been
violating “Copyright and Related Rights Law” (Video, Music, Software) and
illegally using or distributing copyrighted content, thus infringing Article
128 of the Criminal Code of Australia. Article 128 of the Criminal Code
provides for a fine of 2 to 5 hundred minimal wages or a deprivation of liberty
for 2 to 8 years…”
This ransom disguises itself as a normal alert
that is from the Australian police. It warns you that your computer has been
blocked due to it being involved with the distribution of pornographic
material, SPAM and copyrighted content.
Australian
Federal Police often demands a non-existing fine of
100 $ in the form of an Ukash or PaySafeCard code. You should never trust what is
stated from the notification for there will be nothing good but financial losses.
